Frequently Asked Questions
Are our services the right fit for you? Read on for some of our FAQs!
What services do you provide?
We specialize in outsourced accounting for nonprofit organizations, working with our clients on an ongoing and long-term basis. Our services include bookkeeping, financial reporting, grant management, budgeting, cash flow management, and strategic financial planning. We also offer support with the setup, maintenance, and continuous improvement of accounting systems and procedures to ensure your organization’s financial health over time.
Do you work with for-profit businesses or individuals?
No, we exclusively serve nonprofit organizations. Our expertise is in understanding the nonprofit sector’s unique financial needs and compliance requirements.
Do you work with fiscally sponsored entities?
We may work with fiscally sponsored entities, but it depends on the structure and financial needs of the organization. If you’re fiscally sponsored, please contact us to discuss your specific situation, and we can determine if our services are a good fit.
Do you conduct audits?
No, we do not perform audits. However, part of our regular services is the preparation of your financial records and documentation to ensure you’re ready for an audit conducted by a third-party firm.
Can you file Form 990s?
No, we do not file Form 990s. As a part of our engagement with our clients, we work with your external CPA or firm to provide financial reports that assist in preparing Form 990.
What size nonprofits do you work with?
We typically work with organizations that have an annual operating budget of $750,000 or more. Please see question 11 for our minimum fee, which was designed for smaller clients. We strongly recommend that smaller clients move to this model as soon as it is practical to afford the services.
My organization isn’t quite at a $750,000 budget yet, but we’re growing! Will you meet with us to see if we’re the right fit?
Absolutely! We have experience working with organizations as they transition from small to larger budget sizes. We can help you navigate this growth and ensure your financial systems are strong and scalable. Contact us to discuss your needs, and we’ll determine how we can support your organization’s continued success.
Do you offer payroll services?
We do not directly manage human resources functions, benefits, or payroll but can provide guidance on best practices and can connect you with recommended payroll service providers. Our services also include payroll reconciliations and reporting.
Do you offer grant writing or fundraising services?
While we do not offer grant writing or fundraising services, we work closely with your development and leadership teams to ensure grant compliance and accurate financial reporting for funders. We also create a grant budget calculator to assist with your proposals and help ensure that all of the grants-related costs are captured.
Do you provide one-time or short-term accounting services?
Our focus is on long-term partnerships to help organizations achieve financial stability and sustainability. We do not generally offer one-time or short-term accounting services.
Can you help us set up a financial system?
Yes! We set up a new accounting system for our new clients, including installing new software, implementing best practices, and training your team on proper financial procedures. The software we install is industry-leading nonprofit accounting, which we make available to your organization at a highly discounted value. We generally do not provide these services for nonprofits who are not taking on our ongoing services.
How is your fee structure determined?
We charge a fixed monthly fee based on the scope and complexity of services provided rather than billing by the hour. This allows us to offer consistent, predictable pricing for our clients. For our smallest clients, the fee starts at no less than $2,000 per month. In addition, we waive the setup fee for smaller clients that qualify for our minimum fee. The actual fee is determined by factors such as the size of your organization, the level of financial oversight needed, and the complexity of your operations.
How do we get started working with you?
To begin, contact us via our website or by phone to discuss your organization’s specific financial needs. We’ll arrange a consultation to understand how we can best support your mission.
